Shot this video pretty much out of the box. Heavy ISO. This camera performed!

Good, clean, basic production.

The snow shots from the strip would definately be worth archiving. May not see that again for many years.

Very impressive.

Did you just use a tripod or did you have some other sort of stabilization like a Glidecam or Glidetrack? The movement was so smooth that it doesn't seem possible that it was handheld, especially when I've read many places that it's a chore to stay stable when shooting video.

i liked that vid better than anything that i've seen out of the 5d yet, nice job! the push out from the stump was surreal, it started falling apart a little near the end for some reason, but it was a really really nice shot... it reminded me of that type of a shot where a push out is combined with a dolly shot, i can't think of the name of it, but the background is practically moving against the foreground.

the smugmug version of your clip was better, but it still had jitters, both with the framerate and some minor camera movement during zooms and such... not that i could have done any better with it!

i would suggest that you do some testing with prores vs. xdcam, and definitely dump compressor, there are better h.264 encoders for the mac platform... there are some encoding issues that can be corrected with some workflow changes, for instance, the stairsteps in the text of the smugmug version.

all in all, a tremendous job tho!
