All of a sudden my Power shot 30 is unable to take any pictures and I cannot view photos already taken on the LCD screen. Last tiem it was used, the kids were viewing photos I had just taken. I went to take a picture and the LCD was black. I went to view the pictures I had taken and again the LCD screen was black. I was able to download the pictures that were previously taken. But any new pictures are downloaded as black.
I read thru the user guide and have to admit I am a novice and only use the most basic features. I'm hoping I may have missed a simple setting that can easily be fixed. The battery is charged.
Does anyone know what may have happened? Or how I can repair this?

It sounds like you've got a problem with the image sensor. Most likely, that's going to require service, I'm sorry to say. If you live in the U.S., you also have the option to upgrade to a refurbished PowerShot S60 for $225 by calling Canon USA tech support 800-828-4040.

Thanks Johnnie for getting back to me..I guess I'll have to take it in and have it looked at. How does this happen would you know? Is it wear, or an accident or what? thanks again,

basically your gonna send it to canon, and there gonna call you back and say, this will cost you 250$ to fix (something more than the camera is even worth), and offer you a refurbished upgrade for even more money. canons repair service sucks. just buy a new camera

check that out, sears is closing out there sony p-150s (same sensor as the canon g6 & s70) for only 250 bucks. 200$ off the normal price.

send it into canon then and be prepared to pay 250$ easily and be offered more expensive upgrades.
if you can live with that or buy a new cam, kodak disposables is probably a good choice.
