Might it be nice if this area was split up into model specific threads:
G9 threads, G10 threads etc to give a more targeted structure?

Desirable? .................. Feasible? ....................... I wonder ???

i agree, would make sense, but not likely since it hasn't happened yet and were up to g-10....but definitely feasible

i dont think its necessary. just use the "search this forum feature" and punch
in the camera your interested in. also, so much info about one camera applies
to all of the G series cameras... that youd be more likely to overlook some
great info if everything was broken down that far

I'm inclined to agree with NJdez and add there simply isn't that much traffic here. If we get too specific, some subsets might end up gathering dust. Finally, there is typical to all treads a level of conversational drift that folk might find interesting, regardless of the camera model they hold.

No, I like it the way it currently is.

+1 Some threads could be useful no matter what G you own.

Hmmn yes I do know how to use a forum search - that's not the point I am making.

Expected inertia evident in most replies but hey - other forums do this for various models in their product range and it works well. And of course general stuff - of interest across all models- also has a thread - so you get the best of both worlds.

Maybe a step too far for the Canon fraternity maybe? :)

There are already a huge number of forums and subforums. If we add subforums for G9, G10 etc then we should logically also add subforums for 20D, 30D, 5D, 1D etc and not to mention all the other compact cameras Canon make.

Also it would create the issue of where to post a thread about differences between G9 and G10 etc ? That would then most likely mean that people post in both forums in order to get all points of view.

So no in my opinion this is not a good idea and not likely to be implemented.

However when Pekka upgrades the forum to the latest version there will be the possiblity to mark threads with a prefix so that threads about G10 could be marked as such and they would then be searchable. There is no decision on when and how yet.

Thanks Tommy.

I just wondered if it might be possible for the Canon G topic to have separate threads - other model owners could decide in their own 'bit' - 5 series - 40 series etc.
In fact many of the older model threads would have hardly anything in them but - in our busy busy lives - we would all be able to immediately hone straight in
to the specific thread on our particular current model/s. Just a beautiful dream :)

Seriously I do realise the risk of ever expanding threads and topics - and the prefix idea sounds a good compromise. bw!

Have a good holiday y'all ;)

wtf...were you not looking for honest opinions?
if you know how to use the in thread search feature than use it. problem basically solved.
there is such a thing as over organization, and for the purposes of the G series section it
would essentially cause more problems than it would solve
