I'm seriously thinking about buying the Canon i9900. What additional items will I need from the getgo to get going? Please be specific, e.g. manufacturer and type of paper, etc. I will mostly print 4X6, but will also do up to whatever size fits in a photo album, probably 6X9 or 8.5 by 11.

In case it matters, most of the photos I take with my 1D, sometimes my DRebel. I use Photoshop CS for post-processing.

IF I was going to get a tax REFUND I'd go with the Canon I9900 or the new Epson R1800. The more I read and hear about the new Epson the more I lean that way.

You may find this page to be of interest:

You'll need a plugin to see the 3-D animations. I downloaded it (use the MANUAL install, it has no active-x control in it). I checked it with Norton. It's cool.

As you will see, the gamut (range of colors that can be produced) of the i9900 literally dwarfs even those of machines commonly used in photolabs. This was the besis of me decision to buy the i9900 (the fact its $200 less helped, too - lol).

The thing (and it is a THING - hyge, and imposing...) sits atop the upper leven og my big work layout, awaiting its first print. I never get in a hurry - lol

I got a Monaco EZ-Color calibration system the same day (yesterday). I'm still working with that - lol It has actually caused the displays on my laptop and my desktop to look the same! However, everything looks like (!), on both of them - washed out, and 'way over gamma. My web site looks HORRIBLE!

I'm gonna switch monitors, but my current guess is that I will have to re-do every image I have ever optimized...
