SO, another question form the cleaning maniac.Enlighten me people

I have read all about cleaning lens, sensors and the like but are there any recomended ways to clean the actual camera body? Meesa (300 D) usually cleans his precious camera with a microfiber or a soft cloth(sometimes i damp the cloth in some water).I read that cameras dont really need this much attention as they are pretty well sealed against dust and moisture but generally i dont like seeing grease spots(which appear very easily even if you put a finger on the camera and especially visible on the LCD screen). Also is there any way that i can protect the LCD with something? I think the Nikon D100 had an optional plastic accesory that you could put over the thing to protect it against scratches and dust.

Go get a generic PDA screen protector and cut it down to size. Very simple.

As for cleaning the body. I don't worry about it, I just kind of assume it will pick up some dirt.

Keep the body clean with a microfibre cloth. A small, soft paint brush or unused women's makeup brushes help in the tight spots. If you shoot near saltwater then a very slightly damp cloth followed by a dry microfibre wipe down.

Most folks use nothing on the LCD screens. They are really hard to scratch. I have been shooting these digital Canon's for over three years now and have yet to scratch one. Not to mention that the replacement is only about $10 from Canon and very easy to change out. And most LCD protectors I have seen hinder the view in one way or the other.

I use eXim Screen Protectors on my Camera, Nintendo DS, Mobile Phone, PSP and they are really very very clear. Well worth a try and they make one for the 300D.

Best place I have found is to search on ebay.

HAHA!

And a 1Ds, no less
I know that the camera is weather sealed, but does this also apply if only the body cap is fitted

Best regards,
Andy

I guess it's on vibrating setting with automatic 360 digree turning.

I take my 1dMkii into the shower with me. I just make sure to have a lens on as the body caps do not have the o ring.

No, I am kidding. I rarely clean my camera bodies but a MF cloth or a very slightly damp diaper seem to do the trick. Mostly they get a little dust on them. Not a big deal and no harm to functionality.

Charles,

I assume you dampen the diaper with water, right?
Might not be as good on dissolving tough residues, but has a more neutral smell to it

... sorry, couldn't resist!

Best regards,
Andy
