I need to buy a SDHC card reader; so far search on Ebay India has shown SDHC card readers from Transcend and Techcom, while the techcom one is around Rs. 200 with shipping (US$ 4), Transcend one is around Rs. 800 (US$16).

Is there any substantial speed benefit of using a card reader from Transcend/Sandisk to justify the almost 4x cost difference?

I don't know if these are available in India, but it looks like it would be ideal for you, a dedicated card reader that comes with a 4 Gig card, these are two for the price of one at the moment here in the UK. and the double package costs £30,00 Sterling. it just might help you to know that something like this is available (somewhere)!

Sorry, I have just realised that I don't own the copyright on this picture, so I can't leave the link for it.

It is a Sandisk 4 gig SDHC card with a really neat card reader not much bigger than the card itself.

I have a Sandisk Micromate reader. It is an SDHC to USB converter. Not the fastest, but it more than makes up for that in convenience. It is always handy in my bag any time I need it.

Yes that sounds just like it the card goes into the reader and just fits in it and it has a USB connector. really neat, I have a reader for my CF cards, but it is nowhere near as compact as the one we are talking about.
