I was first on the scene as the clouds broke.

Hmmm, Santa came early to your house. Yum, Yum! :-)

Oh, I like the photo, too.

Yeah I left out some cookies and milk, and I found a new lens in their place :D

Here's one I got at lunch. I hiked through some pretty fierce terrain to get this shot. Now I'm sitting here at my desk with soaked jeans. Should have had a little foresight, and brought an extra dry pair with me :D

Yeah I work (Mon-Fri) in a more rural area. That's where I practice my landscapes. I'm glad you like them :)

I thought you were a projectionist at Science World. Do you actually work in the Tri-Cities? (not to be confused with the million other Tri-Cities in the world) :-)

Only on Saturday nights.

Mon-Fri I'm IT (systems developer, web developer, database admin, net admin, and end user support all rolled into one) for a cabinet manufacturer out in PoCo.

Freelance web and database on top of that.

All other free minutes are taken up with photography and ballroom dance with my wife.

Needless to say, I'm usually busy doing something.

Hey I used to wear that hat!! It's why I never wear hats anymore... ;)

Love the 2nd shot a lot and that 1st one sure looks like it was a tough one to get a good exposure.

Can't believe the snow you are all getting up that way this season. "She who must be Obeyed" is at her Dad's in Spokane and they have several feet on the ground right now...I am just sitting here in CA shivering in 60ish degree weather....brrrrrrrrr, cold!! :D

thanks breck and peter!

This much snow is a rarity for us so I'm trying to take full advantage of it. Glad the light was cooperating with me today. I set my alarm yesterday to get a nice sunrise, but the sky was completely grey. I went back to bed.

I wonder when the skies are like that and given your lattitude, might it not be better mid-day vs. the usual early Am & early evening periods? I am just thinking that since the sun is lower in the sky anyway, you never really get full mid-day sun as you would during the summer/spring months. Especially so during these storms and grey skies. I ask simply because I don't know...

You are correct. The second shot was taken at about 12:45pm. The sun doesn't get overhead at this time of year.

Thanks for the info...look at it this way...no need to join the "Dawn Patrol" for getting nice shots this time of year... ;) Sleep is a good thing!

You're not that much further South :-P

Thank you very much. They were both shot RAW so all processing was done in my secret underground lair, and not in camera.

Yeah it's pretty sweet. To get a sunrise now I only need to set my alarm for 7:20. I can get some toast and go shoot. Now all I need is more nice weather. The snow is beautiful, but not under a grey sky.

looking at the satellite photo's it sure doesn't look as if you are gonna see anything blue in the sky for a while yet. ANd if ya do it will be just long enough to get the rig out of the bag point and....d'oh...get a good 18% grey shot for white balance... :p
