Body/Lens Combinations...

Morning all,

This isn't meant as a cry for help, more an insight into what you lot would do differently; at weddings I get by with the kit I have for now... I was just wondering how some of you might enter into the shoot given the same clobber I have. To split between 2 bodies, lenses are;
Sigma 10-20mm,
Canon 17-85mm,
Canon 50mm (1.8),
Canon 70-300.

I have a relatively casual appointment next week and would happily change things around if someone comes up with any thoughts.

Are your bodies both 1.6x?

yes - all interchangeable.

For walk-around event work, I keep my 17-85 on one body and my 70-200 on another. I only have one flash for now ( :( ) so that has to "bounce" between the two bodies, so I would keep your 17-85 on one body and your 70-300 on the other. If you need to go wider than 17mm, stick the 10-20 on one body.

thanks for the answer - that is pretty much how I play it at the moment. I like to use the 10-20 when I can, but try to avoid it for the obvious group shots - that's not why I'm there

Those are some really slow lenses for wedding work, I say.

I know this isn't a very helpful comment, but I wouldn't like to photograph a wedding with such slow consumer lenses. Check out the Wedding FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=255604) for some of my thoughts on equipment.

Thanks for comments. Advice of any kind is always welcome if occasionally ignored.
It's worth saying that I refer to your wedding FAQ quite often and I also agree about the speed of those lenses, however they do just fine for what is expected of me and the type of shots people want me to take.
The fallback 70-200 2.8 will be close by if needed though...
