I just got an A95 three days ago. I'd read about the E18 problem, but thought it would never happen to me. Unfortunately I didn't figure on doing something totally stupid. I was taking photos of my four year old son with his plastic bowling set and took some shots from "behind" the pins. One freaky bounce later and the ball hit the extended zoom lens and depressed one side of the most extended portion of the lens (see attached). Not surprisingly it will not retract at all and E18 has appeared.
Does anyone have any idea if such damage is repairable? I might go back to the store and plead dumb, but I suspect they'll just say that I must have banged it or dropped it. It's obviously under warranty, but I assume that Canon will realise that it wasn't the camera's "fault" and they'll make me pay. Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
