I was at Nisqually and noticed this eagle coming in for a landing. I wasn't really prepared to shoot into the sky so the exposure is dark. :x But just as the eagle was about to land a hawk or what looks like a hawk took off from the branch the eagle was trying to land on. It all happened so fast. I think the hawk startled the eagle because he missed his landing and started falling towards the ground. He recovered and I only got one halfway usable image. Moral of the story. Be prepared.

Hawks Fault!!! He was NOT cleared for take off by departure control. The NTSB is investigating and I hear that the black boxes have been recovered!

Not many photos with both hawk and eagle, I'll bet. Good capture.

Well after some more investigating myself, it turns out that the eagle is a thief! I was looking through some of the before and after shots. When he came in he had nothing in his talons. After the altercation with the hawk he left with what looks to be a half eaten bird. Eagle is guilty of theft.

Awesome capture, Chris.
Hadn't seen yet one photo like that, with an eagle and a hawk, so near, in the wild.

I don't think there are many images like that.

Wow...fantastic.

That hawk...which is usually considered a fairly large bird, is put to shame by that eagle.
