Hi all,

I have recently visited India and Nepal (I just came back last week).

Wow, what an experience. India is such a colorful and packed country, there's always something to see. Never a dull moment. Great food, beautiful people and fantastic places to visit.
There will only be India photos in this post (I first have to select my Nepal photos).
I really enjoyed using the 40D. C&C are of course more than welcome.

The complete gallery can be seen here: http://www.pbase.com/tvw/india

Amazing work. All extraordinary, I think my favorite though is the little girl, with the last one a close second.

I like the reflection image. That is a great way to deal with the fact that you could never get a picture of Taj without a ton of people in it.

In the very early morning the Taj almost abandoned. Too bad I was sick in Agra, I really dragged myself to the Taj. Otherwise I would have visited the Taj in the morning. The other thing I wanted to do is have a look at the back side from the other side of the river, unfortunately my health didn't allow that. :(

Great shots! Don't wanna sound like a pimp :D but there's a new forum concentrating on Indian photography, its relatively new (opened day before yesterday!) but will be flooded with India images soon enough, just if anyone's curious.

Please lemme know if this publicising is a bad idea. I'll delete the link.

Out of interest, how did you go about doing the people shots? Did you ask permission or just snap away?

For the posed shots I (of course) asked permission. For the street photography shots not. Just be friendly, smile, blend in and be positive. Show people the result on the LCD and people can be really happy.

The fire-eater shot is breathtaking. Amazing that you can pull off such a high shutter speed at night... it looks like a very difficult shot to nail.

Some of the best travel shots I've seen in a while, the fire breather and reflection shots are my favorite. India must be heaven for people shots.

What parts did you visit Tvw?

Our route was roughly this; Delhi, Sariska, Pushkar (Fair), Jaipur, Agra, Orcha, Khajuraho, Allahabad, Varanasi.
This is a very interesting route and shows a beautiful part of India (it was my first time to India).

Thanks. Because of the flames (and the light it gives) I could get a very fast shutter speed. I was at ISO3200 (because I was shooting a dance before), but could be at ISO800.
