We have some 15 and 17 inch lcd monitors and one is going on the fritz. We have not used CRT monitors for some time. Are the 19 or 21 inch CRT monitors any better for viewing photos? Is there much difference in brands or should we just go with CNET?

I recently went through the same research. Looks like the general consensus is that LCDs still have a couple of years to go before they are affordable and acceptable for photo editing. I've seen some posts that people are satisfied with their 22" Apple cinema LCDs, but at $2499 a pop. In the 21" crt department, look at Mitsubishi, Lacie, Sony, Samsung Diamondtron and Trinitron displays. They seem to get the most recommendations.

Well not much response so I went out and bought a 19" Sony Trinotron...largest available here. Installed it and found it was the card that was the problem. Bought a GeForce 4 card with 128 mb RAM. Photos are so much better than LCD setup but the text in other applications is kinda small.
