I went to Coyote Ugly a few times to work on my low-light/really-bad light photography and thought I'd share some of the better shots with you all.

So Coyote Ugly is Hooters with fire breathing? Is it like a chain or something, the name is vaguely familiar.

Good shots for low light though, you must have a steady hand.

what kind of flash did you use for those/settings? the shot of the girls on the bar seems really well lit and i know bars can be very dark.

I used my 420EX with a Lumiquest mini-softbox. Still need to use some shadows/highlights in post to get it right. I was just out practicing :) :)

Citizensmith: Coyote Ugly is really just a bar with a name (the movie came from the bar). I don't know where the "fire-breathing" came from but it's kinda cool.

Well the bar started in NYC, but since its popularity grew with the movie, it has been slowly francising over the US, with the original owner and original manager doing all of the hiring and training.

I think they NEED to open one of those in Southern Utah.........or at least a pizza place that sells beer. Great shots.

Good shot - although in the second one, the girl looks like she has a Guiness glass and a blue bottle on top of her head. :)

Austin already has one.

Jeff, Very nice series as the others have already stated.
I like the photo of the "Bird" giving you the Bird. :D
While these are nice, I think you still need to go back for more practice, then post those here as well. ;)

There was a movie with the same name a while back. It was about a bar called Coyote Ugly whith sexy women breathing fire and dancing on the bar & ... oh ... wait, come to think of it these photos look a lot like the movie.... or does the movie look a lot like the photos?
Anyway GREAT shots

That would explain why I though I'd heard the name.

Was anyone bothered by you using a camera in there? Particularly one that isn't the standard mini digital P&S.

Good shots in a tough environment. Great reactions from the girls! How about some more when you have time.

Thanks everyone for looking and the comments. I imagine I'll get back for more pretty soon and post another series.

Citizensmith: No one was bothered by my camera, in fact people would move out of my way when they saw I was trying to get a shot :) :)
