Thanks for the info.
True, no co driver. Its called rally sprint in here. They drive about 5km long route 2 times and see who is the fastest.
As there is no co driver they just have to memorize the route. First round they normally go pretty carefully but the
second lap is 110%. Normally many of them will end up upside down ;)

Darren, great shots. #2 looks like there is no rear suspensions at all :D

The likes of Gartrac can build a shell from scratch. Used prices for even basic MK1 & MK2 Escorts are ridiculous.

I looked at a MK2 1600 sport when i first started driving and you could pick up a decent one for about £1000. You'd be lucky to find a good one under 6K now.

they cant make new body shells,they still need a shell to start with unless things have changed and they can create a totaly new shell from nothing

Great to see a pic of Steve Bannister flying through the stage,and his Escort was so worn it was called "Ethel" from memory,cant remember the reg if this shot was that shell.

These are superb photos of a great looking Mk 1,modified but with decals.

However,the background in black and white does not work for me in 1,better in 2.

These I am sure looked stunning in colour from memory,1 especially as that car really pops ,to use your expression.Any chance of seeing that one ?

I kind of know what your saying about the background, the B&W does accentuate it. I was trying out a new B&W processing technique which brings alot more details out of the photos, too much perhaps ;)

Technically the bonnet stripes are those that were fitted to the RS2000 Escorts with the side/roof stripes being those fitted to the Mexico.The Mex never had bonnet decals.
Sorry to be an Anorak but its also a good excuse for me to post a photo of an RS2000 on track with its broad side stripes.I always liked the Mexicos thinner stripe as it was slightly more under stated.

It was a bit of a compromise with the settings as the sun was coming up behind the hils in the background,so i used a nd grad to try & balance it but could have done with a darker one i think (i'm still a bit new to filters:oops:),Terry was flying all day & took a well deserved win in the historic section!
