I'm interested. I prefer the 17th over the 10th (I have a dinner thing on the 10th), but don't change it for me--I'll be fine with the majority.

Yay for Meet, and Yay for Saturday. I'm down with all of those great suggestions. Hopefully my new camera will be in by then so I've got something to shoot with :).

I'll be able to go for the 2nd half of the 10th or the 17th. Our race #4 & #5 are on those mornings.
As long as the meetup is within a reasonable distance from Ala Moana then I'll most likely be there. Nothing is coming to mind for places....probably because it's almost 1am and I can't sleep :(

No BBQ because the cooking time cut into the shooting time. We can potluck and I can bring my canopy. I liked the location we were at on that last Waikiki meet because it was close to all the action and parking was closer.

Street parking, very crowded on weekend, but if go early, should find parking... forgot how much though... can find parking at the Waikiki shell, and free.

I've been wanting to do the Century Ride. Is it hard? I wanted to do it with a fixed gear/single speed setup, but someone told me I'd probably give up when I'm going up koko head.
I don't know why, but I can't figure out how to install the rear deraileur. I feel kinda dumb.

Anyone bringing chili? I can bring that local staple to every potluck.Sounds good.I've been wanting to do the Century Ride. Is it hard?I only ride 25 miles nowadays...I mostly ride it to get the t-shirt. I went 100 miles once and once was enough. I've done the 50 a bunch of times but I feel it takes too long now and I get too tired to do anything else afterwards. The 25 mile is short so it doesn't take long and I can still do lots of stuff the rest of the day. I road the 40 mile once and it was a nice ride...but I prefer doing just the 25 mile now...much shorter and easier on my behind.I wanted to do it with a fixed gear/single speed setup, but someone told me I'd probably give up when I'm going up koko head.I rode the last one on a single speed mountain bike and I made it up the steep hill in Hawaii Kai (Heart Break Hill) without getting off even though I hardly rode prior to the event. I saw some guys riding fixed gear road bikes that day too.I don't know why, but I can't figure out how to install the rear deraileur. I feel kinda dumb.I can help you with that if you'd like. Do you have all the necessary part? Cables, cable housing, shifters? What kind of shifter do you have? The older friction shifters or newer index shifters?
Oh, I talked to my friend with the worms and he said he would give you some. Apparently he got more not too long ago. If you're still interested I'll let him know and we can arrange a meeting or something.

Hmm, as suspected, we have simular shots, I should've posted them early. I'll have to go though them to find different subjects posted.
It was great seeing a big turnout. Plenty of food and rain. The morning was beautiful with the sun shining, then a big pour for a few minutes, then cloudy the rest of the day with occational drizzles. I should have taken some shots early, then kick back. We always do the opposite. Mahalo everyone for your participation.

Ah, that tripod really does make a difference. Is that iMovie 08'? iMovie 09 has video stabilization :). It is recommended to keep HD video in the landscape aspect ratio though hehe, so good job with that.

It was the 300 f/4 IS on my 1D3. I cropped it a bit, but not that much. It looks like it's far away but it's not really--this one was almost accidental as opposed to all the others that I was trying to get but couldn't .

Thanks for the suggestion--there does seem to be too much room on the left side. I think it was part lazy, part didn't notice and part wishing I had my 5D to use with Lincoln's 17-40. The shot I pictured in my head was wider and I think maybe I could've tried one from a lower angle. I kept waiting for her to jump as her friends were telling her "I don't think that's a good idea."

My Meet pics won't be up for awhile. When I got home on Saturday my wife said the main computer suddenly shutdown when she was using it and wouldn't boot back up. I was able to get it to boot up but it's obviously dying. I did download my images to the computer and did edit one image but the performance was real sluggish and I didn't want to stress it anymore. Turned it off and haven't turned it on since.
We do have two other working computers at home but one is way too slow to do photo editing with and I didn't feel like installing my PP software on my wife's computer because I would be on it all the time and she needs it for work.
So I ordered new parts and will be building a newer, more up-to-date computer this weekend. Hope to get my pictures up by Sunday.
Could someone please put up the list of shots we were supposed to take on Saturday...I don't remember everything that was on the list. Thanks.

If you look at my post I think it lists everything, although some are grouped together.
My home computer crashed this morning so I have to work on it too. Too bad it's so crazy at work that this is the first break I've had since I got here. Stupid Macs won't work with the new Xerox machines. I hope I can recover everything. My backups weren't up to the minute so I'm crossing my fingers that I can recover everything. Had a weird virus message this morning from McAfee and then everything restarted, now when I boot I get all the way through the login before I get "recovered from fatal error" then a blue screen then a restart. Stupid computers.

Yup, Windows XP. What AV 2009 malware? Something new?I heard about it from the computer forum I hang out in...something pretty nasty. When it first started messing computers up the only thing to do was reformat and reinstall Windows. But I think Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) can clean an infected computer now.
But if that's not the problem I hope it's something simple like a stick of RAM going bad or a faulty data cable.

Here is my f/1.8 photo. I wanted a low angle shot and used the "diffuse glow" effect in PS for more interest. It gave it more separation. I prefocused on the sidewalk waiting for people to walk by so I did not have to look though the view finder to snap the pic.

Scanning my HDD right now (taking fricking forever). It's still picking up those virus files that I saw the other day. Generic.dx and Generic FakeAlert.b on three files in the Temp folder. It looks like everything's still there, but wanted to scan before I moved any of the files off--probably go and buy another external to save everything to temporarily just to get the data off the drive. I think I'm going to invest in a drobo--that's going to kill my photography funds, but it'll be worth that and more if I ever need it.

Well, I got my new computer put together and I'm posting from it now. Looks like everything works okay and it's reasonably faster than my old one...not bad considering it cost about half the price. Gotta love how high tech stuff gets cheaper and cheaper.
Finished installing most of my photo editing software but still have to transfer my other files from the old computer. Hope to get that done by the end of the long weekend.
I'll try to get to the Meet photos soon, but don't know if it'll be this weekend...wifey wants to go shopping tomorrow and then has a "to-do" list for me for Monday. We'll see.

Nice build Chris, all parts look well matched. Looks like you future-proofed your build pretty well too. I got the same mobo in one of my rigs along with an Intel Q9550 with Scythe Ninja mini pipe cooler (sort of to match the cooling on the mobo too) I had to trim a few fins to make it fit but it dropped core temp's ~10F from the stock one even for it's "small" size.
I just heard that Intel is gonna reduce their chip prices soon. the Q9650 is gonna drop to around $320 down from around $535. A pretty big price drop, and it's arguable that AMD's pricing is the cause of it.
I'm probably gonna get it once the price drop takes effect and run it with CS4 because I heard (not confirmed) CS4 uses multi-cores alot more efficiently than previous versions, and put the 9550 in my son's gaming rig. Can't wait for added GPU support in the app too.

Finally edited the pictures from the Meet. Was waiting for the X-Rite Eye-One Display 2 to arrive so I could calibrate my monitor first. The pictures might look a little weird since I haven't edited in awhile and I'm not used to the new monitor yet. I did the Easy Mode monitor calibration just to see what would happen and the colors do look better than without the calibration...gonna do the Advanced Mode when I have time later.

It is on an old fire wardens trail on a mountain in Maine. It takes about an hour and a half or a little more to hike up and about 15 minutes to sled down. Not sure how fast you get going, but you are really flying on some sections - especially considering you are on a winding hiking trail with trees on the side.
