do a search...there are a few threads about this from a few months ago.
I believe most of them thought it was a good program

I took the course many years ago. I thought it was a good course and covered the foundation of photography that everyone needs to take good photographs. I had been in photography for several years when I took the course and have since started my own studio and operated it for 8 years then sold it and took a position in a large medical corp as a photographer. I would say that it has payed me back many 10's of thousands of dollars. So it was worth it for me. Good Luck...

I took the course about 8 or 9 years ago when shooting film. Depending on your current experience level some of the course may not be so challenging. But no matter what there is always something new to learn. The instructor assigned to you can make a big difference as well. He/She would be the individual that will critique the images you send them for each lesson.

Not sure how its set up now but they occasionally handpicked lesson submitted photos and gave out "merit awards". If you signed a release so they could use them in print for training materials or web they paid you a small amout. The merit awards I received paid for a portion of my tuition.

I know you asked about NYIP but www.ppsop.com is worth checking out also.
its Bryan Petersons school. author of "understanding exposure" and a few other photography books.

I was looking into this program as well. It may be something that I pursue because the other options are much more expensive.

MacBailey,
I am fairly new to digital photography(3 years experience with a DSLR- the 20d &40d) and was thinking of a career in medical photography in some respect. Can you fill me in as to where to train for such a position and what is the title(s) for such a job pertaining to medical photography. Any information and/or contacts you could possibly provide would be much appreciated. Thanks, glenphoto

I am enrolled in that currently.

It is interesting to say the least.
Yes, even if you are not new to photography, you will end up learning bits and pieces along the way. They also go over film briefly, although it is optional for the student to read. We dodge and burn in photoshop, but I thought it was awesome when I figured out how they did it with film and where the terms originated from.

They also explain to you in details the camera mechanics including how flash systems work, TTL, exposure, DOF, etc... All the basics plus a bit more. They will also be there for you if you have any questions.

I enjoy the assignments as well and the audio feedback they send.

I personally would recommend it, if you have a bit of money to spare.
