Nice! Here's what I thought:
First, what program did you use to make the videos? When I made my time lapses, I had high resolution picture files so the videos themselves could be very high res. Why was yours so low res and degraded?
Next, you should try and do some basic color correction / color faking. Due to pollution, its tough to see the night light but you can fake it by coloring the pollution. See what I did here (http://flickr.com/photos/dshankar/sets/72157603970647102/).
Specifically, (http://flickr.com/photos/dshankar/2287692580/) has a detailed explanation.
I think the blue color is more pleasing when looking at star trail/time lapse images than the ugly orange pollution color.
Good luck shooting, and nice vids again!

i used quicktime to make it into a video. The quality is bad because of youtube. I was thinking of hosting it in a non-flv format somewhere. Is there anyway to do batch color correction? i dont want to go in and correct 700 frames.

Yes. Create a Photoshop Action. Save that Action. Then use Photoshop's Batch processing tool. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshoptutorialsactions/Actions_Droplets_and_Batch_Processing_in_Photoshop _and_ImageReady.htm
Lots of info available on the web about it. Above is just one example.

Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? If JPEG, shoot with a very cool color balance at night for shots that might have any light pollution. Like, 3200K.
If RAW, cool them off in the Camera RAW phase using a Photoshop Action or simply import them into After Affects (if you have that) and render out your clips from AE directly off the RAWs, which will result in stunning quality.
We have an entire forum dedicated to timelapse at timescapes.org if you want to get more into it.
