Pictures taken this morning with my G3 and LX8 lens, full zoom including numerical zoom to be able to check the focussing ( manual focussing) .
I also used a tripod and it helped a lot.
I found the cormorants on the lake close to my house , forming groups of 10 individuals and it is the first time I have seen so many .
Individual pictures were not very nice and did not reflect what I found there.
Making a composite picture not only gives differents postures but reflects more
what I saw, even if they never were so close to each other.
Comments ?

Jose,

I don't have a bird handbook for Europe handy, but I can tell you those are NOT comorants. Those are Grebes. Since I live in North America, I don't know the species.
It is a nice photo though!

Mark is absolutely correct. They are not cormorants, but grebes. In fact, they are Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus).

Thanks Mark and Ed for pointing out my mistake.
So there are not cormorants but Great Crested Grebes.
I'll change the title of my post.

Yup - Great Crested Grebes indeed. Hang around and watch them - they have an amazing courting display.

Jose, I wouldn't know a cormorant from a grebe either! But I hope to learn and this forum is a wealth of information. Great montage!

I'm glad someone cleared that up. I was thinking they surely didn't look like the cormorants we have around here.

Did you take make the composite of 8 different shots?

pdrow,
the picture is made from 8 different shots using photoshop layers and masks.
Not very difficult to do once you know the basics of layers and masks.
