well, i thought I would reply to myself. anyway, the rally is here, and I've got the whole weekend squared away to shoot it. any Kiwis who read this, make sure you grab your camera and get out there and take some pics! even if it is a canon.....:D :rolleyes: :oops:

Of all the various forms of motorsport, pro rally is probably the most interesting to me. Unfortunately, there's very little of it here, and the venues are always well off the beaten path. The best chance for seeing it is on television, and the pictures you are going to post next week.

I look forward to them.

SCCA dumped Pro Rally as of last year. Not sure if it exists in the US anymore. Way to many legal issues in the USA to make this happen anymore. I figured Pro Rally was in trouble after the tragic deaths of Subaru's main team in 2003 in Oregon. That was the last Pro Rally race I covered.

There was a Rally race in eastern Tennessee about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I didn't hear about it until the morning of the race. I don't know why it wasn't promoted - these are exciting races.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel 300D and I love it. But I have 3 Nikons and my number one is a 25 year old FM.

Sure it does. Rally America picked up the sanctioning after SCCA dropped it, hired a real public relations firm to promote it, and are working on an improved TV deal as we speak. Also Stig Blomqvist and freestyle motocrosser Travis Pastrana are competing in US Gr.N this year.

Frankly, it's better than ever. And the next race is in Hillsboro, Oregon on April 22-24, just over the river from you. Come on by, and stop by the DC Shoes/Red Bull/Subaru service truck and say hello. I'm co-driving for car 199.
