Hey there everyone, I have been going to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands for a long time now and have been thinking it's time for a bit of a mix-up, find some new turf ;)
So, do any of you know of any other good places in Southern California that is good for any kind of bird photography? any other good wetlands or maybe other places like the Tuckers WildLife Sanctuary? (another place I have been going to for a long time now)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

^^^Try Malibu Lagoon State Beach. Lots of pelicans and a few GBHs, and those small birds with the long bills. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=835 Also try Kenny Hahn Park in Baldwin Hills off of La Cienega, and Marina Del Rey Lagoon. When the tide is going out the Egrets and Herons cherry pick the fish flowing out of the lagoon into the Ballona Creek. Usually they are skiddish, but if they are hungry and hunting you can get some very close shots. One of our members said he has had luck with raptors up in the hills in Simi Valley, but I haven't confirmed that.

If you're near Bolsa Chica you might try Santa Rosa reserve near Murrieta, fantastic place, lots of mammals, look for the Lewis woodpecker in the winter.

Damn, I forgot this one: http://www.laparks.org/dos/horticulture/sepulvedabasin.htm
You will probably see guy with a D3 and a Bigma there shooting birds.
Also the LA county arboretum, you will find some birds around the small lakes, and for the flower shooters among us there is a magnificent hot house with all manor of exotic flowers, especially orchids. Bring your macro. http://www.arboretum.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=getcatheadlines&Catagory=wildlife&CFID=1122283&CFTOKEN=62690057

I had no idea that Santa Rosa reserve was so close to me. Right down the street.

I didn't see many birds, but I did get a few Coyote's while I was there.
