That is what we call them, Boxelder Bugs . . . horrid little creatures that come out with the first lasting sunshine. I suppose it is one sign that spring may come, even up here.
I used one 25mm and one 12mm tube to take this shot. This is the first of my venture into the world of macro photography. If this works out ok perhaps when the new EFS 60mm Macro comes out I will give it a try.
20D/17-85 + 37mm of tubes.

Very nice shot, Rod, especially for a first attemp. I've not seen one of those, but he does have some color. Is that your sweater he is walking on? LOL

The 'bug' is about a quarter inch long in life, and its life was short after the shoot. A real life fifteen minutes of fame . . . lol. The fabric is a common T shirt. I must have exceed 1:1? I am not sure, it was taken at the 85mm end of the lens. Thanks Stan as always.

You crack me up RJ.....took that bug's picture (which was cool), then stomped him out:lol:
Sounds like you've got another purchase coming from B&H..... I am now saving my pennies for the 70-200/2.8L IS USM. Are we ever satisfied???
As of Wed. we will be a two 20D family. My hubby hasn't stopped drooling since I got mine...finally convinced him to buy one for himself as I flunked 'Sharing' as soon as I got my hands on mine :p

I hate bugs . . . for the most part, but it made an object for my lens and that is what mattered at the time. I made him famous and it will be remembered, but it is no longer with us, that is true.
Thanks you gals for taking the time for the kind words.

LOL This has been a great thread. I'm sure you were well beyond life-size, how much I couldn't say. The fibers in that t-shirt look awfully big. Bottom line, it was a great shot.

Well this has been a fun adventure . . . I emailed this to a few folks and they all hated it. So it was great. They all moaned and groaned as they stuck their nose into the computer to get a better look. People are sure funny. Say they hate is and won't stop looking at it.
