Alright, I am having a huge problem with my Canon Powershot A80. Every single picture I take with it outdoors is WAAAAAAY TOO BRIGHT. Even if it's not that light outside, the pictures come out too bright to even make out what I'm shooting. A lot of my indoor shots come out too bright as well.

I have tried many many settings. I have set the white balance to daylight preset, auto, as well as all the other settings. I have set the exposure all the way down to -2, and normal, and everywhere between. I have tried the flash on and off. I've tried all kinds of things. The only thing that has made it not too light is going to the M setting, and changing it to F8 and from 1/500 to 1/2000. This setting makes the quality really bad when I import it to my computer, though. I do not know the terms for all of this camera stuff, because I am just an amateur 15 year old photographer.

I've looked all over the internet to see if anyone has had the same problem as me, but I can't find anyone with this problem. I figure I must be doing something terribly wrong, because nothing seems to start improving this error in all of my outdoor shots. If anyone can help me, thanks a lot.

Possible ISO setting is too high? Try knocking ISO down lower...

I have no idea, hahahah. I know nothing about the technical sides of taking pictures. I just have an eye for what's a good shot, I aim, and shoot it. The C2 through P settings are the only ones where I can change the ISO, and when I fiddled with that, it didn't really make a difference. To start off, what setting on the wheel thing should I use for shooting outdoors? It seems like I'm sooooooo far off from getting a not-so overexposed shot. Sorry if this ends up being a pain. I appreciate help a lot. Thanks.

I use the Auto setting on my S1 outdoors with good results. Maybe when locking the exposure/focus - point at a brighter area of the shot to set, keep half depressed then recompose the shot. The other things that you mentioned - higher F stop, higher shutter speed, exposure -2 all should have helped too. Maybe the camera is faulty - try to take it back to where purchased and have them try it as well...
