Can't resave TIFF file as JPEG...

Finally using RAW. Using PS, I processed the image and saved as a TIFF. Now I want to save the file as a JPEG to email, but JPEG doesn't come up in the format dialogue box, just Photoshop, Cineon, PS Raw, PS PDF, PNG and TIFF. What am I doing wrong or what haven't I done? Something stupid, I'm sure.

Jpeg doesn't support 16 bit color depth or layers. Could this be your problem?

The 16 bit one got me, just choose mode -> 8 bit. It should flatten the layers if you try to save as jpg, if not just choose flatten from the layers menu.

Or you can just use Save As for Web and it'll do all the optimisations for you :)

"Save for web" also strips out EXIF information, which is usually desirable for a web image. "Save As" keeps EXIF data if it's available... at least it does if your version of PS CS is up to date.

I like to leave the EXIF in there for most shots I post to the web. I think it's helpful to the other members if they want to check out the settings.

Instead of using "Save to web", I just defined an action in CS that changes the color profile from aRGB to sRGB and from 16 bit to 8 bit depth.
