Lighting set up will depend on what you are shooting, try experimenting with different combos and look at the results. e.g. 2 lights on background 1 on subject, or 2 on subject 1 on background etc..
Only by trial and error will you come up with what works best for you.

Lighting efffects can vary greatly. It all depends on what the desired effect is. The way you shot these its a flat color. You can pleat it a bit and go from the side with the backlight for another view giving it texture and depth. Or use barn doors or a snoot to highlight the middle and get a nice gradiant going outwards, or use something for a gobo in front of the light to cast shadows on it. Maybe even some gels to change the tone. Your are only limited by your imagination.

Wow, you've got way cooler inlaws than I do. The lighting you've currently got looks nice. Did you have a specific effect in mind?

Katia,
I love your photos. I was looking at your website and was loving those giant props u have for the babies. Where did you get those? Like the teacup and the flowerpot? Those are awesome I would love to get some of those for the babies pictures also.
Thanks,
-joey

Well kinda YES...thing i had in mind is.. something easy/safe for a toddler. I dont shot a lot of adults who can sit still. With todlers and babies who are on the go all the time i want to find that golden middle where i have a lot of range where i can be in a safe zone, you know... so yeah i agree they look flat some.. i need to work on it..

Thank you! I want to learn how to have nice depth in the face, acurate exposure for the "darker" side and meanwhike have a lot of room for the baby to move around (2-3 feet)
