Shot this at the Fort Worth Stockshow / Rodeo a few weeks ago. I think I caught the apex on this one.

Had quite a few fun shots out there... it was dim but the 200mm 1.8 helped :) Now I just need to run these through NN I suppose.

BEAUTIFUL!
I know how hard rodeo pics are to take sometimes. I really LOVE the second pic!

Great shots, but you might want to resize them down a little, High speed connection and they still crawled in.

Oops well here's some others sized down to 1024 across... still kinda big, but I figured I'd share. I shoot mainly motorsports events for a high-gloss magazine, so this was my first attempt at catching a little action at the rodeo. Just wanted to try something different. I played with custom white balance, etc but it didn't look natural, so I just stuck with the AWB.

I really like the first photo. Mainly because you caught the bull looking straight into the camera... he looks pretty intense

You got some great ones here. The barrel riders are always my favorite. There's just something about a good looking girl in a cowboy hat... ;)
And, I'm with Neil... What's up with the helmets?

Defintiely some nice shots, but definitely a bit large, too. 4 megs of pics is a bit much.

I rented a 200mm 1.8 for the rodeo (cost me $35 for the weekend!) and it was a lifesaver. f2.8 just wouldn't have been fast enough with such low light. Handholding that 200 1.8 did get a little heavy though ;)
Sorry about the large images... they were all full size and I just used a quick PS action that I have to size down to 1024 across... next time I'll do 800 across.

Those guys on the broncs don't look like they are having much fun. I'll stick to the merry-go-round:)
Excellent action shots.

I'm not either, but I'm always up for a good challenge, and I figured high action + low light = challenge :)

As silly as the helmets look, I think those are the smart cowboys. It's just like using a helmet on a motorcycle...for safety. Notice the vests? Those are especially made safety vests for when/if the bull steps on the cowboy...and they tend to do that alot.

wow that's pretty high for a bull. I liek the expression on his face, and I like looking at it over the computer. Sure wouldn't want to be the oen to get in his way. ouch.
