Ok, here I am shooting a bball game this weekend.
There was media o' plenty, and lots of amatuer photographers as well.
I was glad to see I wasnt the only one doing lots of chimping.
But I guess I now see what separates the amatuers and the pros.
The pros "chimp" a completely different gadget than the amateurs (no, I don't mean their 1 series cameras) ;)

Thanks for the link.
I have to own up to doing a fair amount of chimping. I wonder though: If you're checking the histogram, is that technically chimping? LOL

No, but you'll have a hard time convincing someone who caught you chimping that you were really checking the histogram, especially if he heard you making the chimping sounds.

That's why I dont wear one of those gadgets. Always chimping it and having absolutely no control over it.

LOL When the action stops, amateurs checks their shots and a pro checks his watch!

LOL that's chimping, thanks for the lesson Bruce.

I can honestly say I don't chimp, but I do have others chimp on me. Everyone always wants to see their picture. (one thing I hate about digital cameras is the crowding or group chimping).

I must admit, I chimp big time, especially in a situation with questionable lighting (as in the arena above).

That was a movie in the link. I had never heard of that term, but I can honestly say, I occassionally chimp ;)

that is funny, I have a friend (great photographer does it so much it's irritating) I can say i'm only checking my histogram because the picture comes up so small that I can only see the histogram. another reason I don't do it is because my CF cards are so slow that i can't review them. lol

but i know i have done it on occasion. lol.

I am a faux-polaroid chimper. Yup. I chimp my shots instead of using a polaroid. Oh yeah, the noises - "ooh, got it", "ooo, I like that one", etc.? Yup I make them too. I'm not ashamed of it.

Maybe Canon should come out with the Canon Chimp Screen? It could be a LCD screen the size of a palm pilot that you simply connect to your camera. Could be useful to extreme chimpers to see what they are looking at.
