I dont have an EOS SLR, I dont even have an SLR.
The closest I could get would if I worked out where Pete lives and stole his.
But I know I need L.
I know what L is.
And thanks to this forum I have L fever.
Duobt I could explain it though.. :o

I think it all starts when a man or woman loves their EOS SLR very much. But sometimes one lens is just not enough Then they go to a place called "Photography one the Net" and ask "which lens should I buy?"
Other sufferers suggest that the person needs one of the lenses with the red ring around the end of the barrel. Once ther person has one, they realise that they're being limited by having only one lens and get another and another and another (because they know that they'll get a better photograph with the *insert random L lens here*).
Next thing you know they've mortgaged the house to buy half of the collection and spend more time talking about the joy of the lenses than using them. :D

what? L? I don't know nothing about it
Repeat after me: "There are no L lenses!! There are no L lenses! I never heard of B&H! I don't have a credit card!"

L is the difference between an Great Grey Owl shot and a GREAT Great Owl shot.
L is the difference between a Panoramic of an Hawaii beach that only your special other and you are on, and another picture of a beach in Hawaii.
L is the difference between a picture and a PHOTOGRAPH.
Of course, practicing lots helps too. Good photographers will get a good picture, but good tools always help.

Seems to me that LFever is very much a 'man' thing, like fast cars, women with nice bottoms and the first sip of a cold beer. Don't try explaining it, somethings are just not going to happen.
her "why is that one longer than the rest"
me "its a telephoto, in fact its a Canon 70-200f2.8 IS L telephoto"
her "so why did someone paint it white"
me "its one of the finest optics in the world and works to such close tolerances that expansion and contraction due to heat absorbtion can throw it out"
her "reminds me, when are you going to paint the shed?"

L fever is usually caused by contracting L disease where in you are happily going about your business taking pictures with your 28-135 IS and then you need to get a wider or longer lens with better aperture and you find the only way to do that is go to an L glass lens. So you patiently save your money for a 16-35/2.8L lens (in my case) and when you get it in you find that it focuses far faster, the pictures just look better and it feels sturdier. At that point you just have the disease.
The fever comes in when you start looking at MTF charts comparing your 28-135 with a 24-70/2.8L lens and then the 75-300 IS versus the 70-200/2.8L IS and start reading reviews on POTN and although it took 6 months to scrimp and save for the 16-35, you mysteriously, without an increase in income, find you also have a 24-70/2,8L, 70-200/2.8L IS, 100-400L and maybe a prime or two within less then a month and your credit card, which had been paid off is now also mysteriously maxed out.
Trivia: in my case it was actually over a 2 year period and I have the 28-70 instead of the 24-70, but that is okay because the 28-70 works better at f5.6 which is what I found I tend to use it at anyway. I only got the disease I never made it to the far worse L fever. Instead I got 1Ditis which unfortunately has related symptoms to credit cards.

Shoot without L glass for a while, and then shoot with L glass..
Go home to your PC, review the images. Then notice which lens you find yourself constantly reaching for. lol

It's just tough to not want the best, when you have seen the difference in build quality and image quality. It's like getting used to eating Pizza Hut deep dish pizza, then having to settle for Dominos. I miss the Deep Dish.
