Hello, please tell me how you think these photos turned out. I took them this past weekend at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Finals held at the University of Texas - Dallas. There were two different light sources which posed a real challenge. These Photos were taken with a 20d, 80-200mm f2.8L without any cropping or other adjustments. I would appreciate your assessment of these photos ...Thanks

Good action.
All of the shots seem very soft. It seems that your shutter speed was too slow.
What were your camera settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, RAW/JPEG, AdobeRGB/sRGB).
Post processing would help.

I shot these using the aperture priority 2.8 and 1.8 @ ISO 1600, jpeg, adobeRGB and custom white balance. Because of the lighting, shutter speed was usually around 100 or a little above. When I used the 85mm 1.8, I was able to get up to 500 on the shutter speed. I dont like to use a flash and this gym had two different light sources that hit the four mats (a real headache). I agree they are too soft and I definetly need to work on them in PS. I was not pleased with how these turned out. I have never had much luck shooting wrestling with a flash, cant seem to get the settings right. Advice on shooting these type of events with a flash would be appreciated.....Thanks
I made some corrections on the first 2 photos using PS, they do look better

Did you happen to get any pictures of any Oklahoma State wrestler? btw, really nice pictures.

I think they are pretty good, part of the problem might be shallow depth of field. I would take a white or grey card with me next time and do a custom wb with the existing lighting.

No they were not there. Their Division 1 finals are this coming weekend. Sure wish I could be there. Maybe next year, I hear it will be in Oklahoma City.

The second batch with the processing have exceptional colour and contrast and would be perfect, except I think you may have over-sharpened them. I see some aliasing and halos.
Reduce the sharpening a tad, and you've got some keepers.
