Please refer to the picture of Canon 1.4x TC. It has a protruding part that will not physically fit to other non selected lenses.

The Canon TCs only work with a selection of L lenses. However, if you want to use a TC, check out Kenko's Proo 300 1.4x and 2x TC, the best independent TCs. I believe they work with your lens. Note that you'll have to focus manually when using theses in combination with your 75-300.

Putting a TC on those below average lenses will result in worse pictures than without the TC, but you won't know how much worse they'll be until you try it.

you will see on the canon converters theres a portion of the lens sticking out - this is why they will not fit.
I use a 3rd party 2x converter on my 75-300mm, as far as results are concerened - I did manage to get some nice cricket pictures printed at 9"x6" and sold them to the club

Hi Marshy,

For more info on T-cons please take a look at the -=READ FIRST=- OES Sticky at the top of the forum. There you will find a link to -=TeleConverters De-mystified=- which should be able to answer most of your T-con related questions and then some :)
