Here's a few shots I took 3 weeks ago.

All I can say is wow, dolphins are fast. :)

I was using the Sigma 70-300mm lens.

What a great series of shots!
There has been a lot of discussion regarding the Sigma lens lately. It would appear that it does quite well in this series.

Yes, it does great for the price, in daylight. Only in low light situations, AF struggles, and is slow. But what can you expect, when it doesn't stop below f5.6? It's not a f2.8L, and that's why it is 3-10 times cheaper. ;)

And thanks for the comment. :D

Great pics, to bad they are captured in a park. I thought Australia was
cramed with animals out in the free? Sorry for the rant, but taking pics of animals in zoo/parks and stuff really dont do it for me.

Yes, I sometimes feel the same. But on a limited budget, limited time, I had no time for real desert safaris, or trips into the real outback. :(
There were a couple of dolphin expeditions out off the coast of Surfers Paradise. Maybe in a year or two, when I somehow get an underwater cover for my 20D.

And thanks again everyone. :)

The only annoying thing with these, is the sun is just behind them. Created dark shadows on their dark grey skin.

I was also lucky with shot #1 and 5.. Only went for a couple of these tight crops, waiting for them to leap out of the water. It's uncropped. So only just managed to fit them in the frame. Too bad if I ever want to print them, the edges are always cropped off a wee bit.

Sheesh!

I'm in awe. I tried capturing dolphins 12 months ago of the coast of Wales (standard 35mm camera, 400 asa film, canon 75-300) Complete struggle, nothing usable.

Excellent shots
