So I have no idea to what I'm doing, but I like the entire concept .. I don't have photomatix so I did it with CS4 and LR to adjust colors ...

It doesn't look like an HDR to me. And I don't mean that in a "wow that's great!" kinda way. It just looks like any other night shot.
I'm too lazy to offer an edit, but I'd like to see the original for comparison.

I read a lot of your comments as you been doing a lot of HDR's and one in particular stood out .. "not all shots are made or work for HDR" .. I think this is one of them .. the sky was cloudy damn near foggy and no BG or FG ambiance and it's just the bridge .. Not sure but I don't think I had the correct composition for an HDR image ..
here's the normal exposure - I did three

also I did another one last night of the xmas tree before it came down ..
again I only use PS and LR to adjust colors ...

Not quite HDR and I think that image doest work for HDR......anyways, it looks a bit better than your HDR ( IMHO )
