I don't think so, as it doesn't have a setting.

I think it turns off rather fast, it can be annoying shooting at night or evening. Halfway through checking settings at it turns itself off. It only stays on for like 7sec's.

Not that I know of, but you can use your 40D menu system to set all the options on the flash unit, can't you? It under the "flash control" menu, so you should not have to even use the LCD on the 430EX.

It is absolutely annoying. That's something I had to get used to and so, I keep my finder near the button until I'm done adjusting.

then just press play

i think he's talking about the top lcd panel.. in which pressing play would instantly disable it.

There may be a diagnostic "hack", which usually involves some combination of key presses in a certain order at a certain speed (if you've ever played Tekken, you know what I mean.) Don't know what it is though...........

The obvious alternative is using the back LCD panel, just by pressing INFO twice. However, it will burn through power, and I much prefer the top panel.
