yeah, i've been there a few times, i was actually looking into getting the 475B legs but am not too sure, looking for adviseMy choice for a really solid tripod leg set would be the Manfrotto 058B - the successor to my 3051.

This rig is heavier than the 475B, providing more resistance to movement.

The 058B also has a superb feature that you'll never want to give up once you've used it. That is the single release for all three leg's length. You can set it up or even adjust it for level without tweaking the individual legs.

The 058B is also one of the tallest tripods available that I am aware of. It will reach a full 75.2 inches with the center column all the way down. Add another ten inches plus if you want to extend the center column.

Well if youre willing to go that high you should be looking into some sort of Gtizo setup...

Did/does the 3051 have this feature?

My choice for a really solid tripod leg set would be the Manfrotto 058B - the successor to my 3051.

A photographer I assist has one of these, as did a studio where I used to work.

IMO, the tripod is *way* to heavy for the stability it offers.

I'm willing to bet that my Gitzo 1325 is more stable that this Manfrotto. The manfrotto QR system compared to the Arca system I use probably also contributes here, but in my experience, using a 70-200 on a 1DsMk2 will give camera shake if you don't use MLU from about 1/30s and slower...
