A short, small wedding a couple days before Christmas. Only 7 people including the couple's 4 week old baby. It's hard to turn down a 2 hour wedding at a full day's price.

3. 1D3/30 1.4 - LOVE this body/lens combo.

4. 1Ds3/70-200 - something a little different. Tried a kissing shot here but just couldn't get it right...

6. 1Ds3/10-22 - Convinced them to shoot outside in -28C/-19F temps... without coats! Awesome! The wind chill didn't help either.

#2 is fantastic.

Nice job all around. I couldn't imagine using two different camera systems for one event.

Actually, I used 4/6 for this wedding, but the 40D was mainly used during the ceremony only. And I find ceremony shots boring so I don't share them.

You get used to it pretty fast. Of course, I set up the Nikon to operate as much like a canon as possible. For example, the rear dial operates aperture instead of the shutter speed that nikon set it to by default. I also mapped the rear AF-L button to engage live view because I'm not used to Live view being on the mode dial. It's very customizable so it makes the transition easier. Not flawless, but at least a little easier. The tricky part is to remember how the two focusing systems react better to different types of contrasts.

LOL... yup. I much prefer 1.6 crop ultrawides as they work as UWA on ALL THREE sensor formats. Something the 16-35 completely falls short of.

I appreciate all the kind words y'all.

40D with 17-55, I'm guessing. I bet I'd find them interesting, but I'm weird like that. :)

4/6. Nice job!

Lloyd, I love your wide angle pictures, but the last one is just beautiful. I have learned so much from you and I am still wondering what the heck happened to my ST-E2 so I can use it. :)

Lloyd,

First, want to say how much respect I have for you and your 'vision'. Beautiful images as usual. And thank you for sharing. Your enthusiasm obviously spills over to your B&Gs in order for them to brave weather like that! :D

Question: In image #6, wouldn't the 16-35 still have captured this image? Or were you using it in the less than 16 range? Just wondering about the advantages to the conversion of that lens without any low light capability. (Of course, that didn't matter in that particular image) Great shot, by the way and a great scene setter.

Love the staircase shot (#2). Good stuff. Keep posting!

Hey Suzie! find that st-e2 and get that flash off cam! You know how to be dangerous with it so have at it!! :)

Yes, the 16-35 could have definitely captured this one. I believe it was shot at 16mm. But the reason why I don't use, own, or want to own a 16-35 is because the 1.6 crop ultrawides give me a true UWA perspective (around 16mm FF equiv) on 1.6, 1.3, and full frame bodies. The 16-35 can only do that on full frame. It is only a very short normal range zoom on a 1.6 crop, and is awkwardly neither an ultrawide or normal range zoom on a 1.3 crop. I'd rather invest in UWA lenses that will give me UWA on ANY body I might be holding. The tokina 11-16 and Canon 10-22 do everything I could want. Heck, the 11-16 works at 14mm on full frame and gives you a 2.8 aperture, and costs many many times less than the 14mm 2.8L.

Lloyd. You sly devil! How are you? Cold up there in Edmonton? We had 70 degrees a few days ago. Today it's windy. Don't miss those Canadian winters. :)

Her eyes are absolutely stunning in #2--great capture! Wonderful photos, overall. If I could, I'd have you shoot at my own wedding, lol. Keep it coming... I'm a newbie, so I hope to learn a lot from your work.
