Happy to say, I just found out a couple of my shots made
it into a card set (Razor/Just Minors) which just came out.

This shot is Red Sox prospect Ryan Westmoreland, who was
projected to be a first rounder in last summer's draft but fell due
to signability issues... He signed for something like 2 million.
He was hurt and not even listed on the roster that day so he was
sitting with the pitchers, player's parents and the three actual fans ;)
in attendance at a Sox Orioles rookie league game in Sarasota....

I found out during lunch yesterday, and I pretty much bounced off
the ceiling for a good half hour...

I really like your idea. If you feel like playing around with it a bit for comparative purposes, you might want to try:

1) Reduce the size of the signature component

2) Increase the pic size (like the round!) and hide a portion of it behind the signature (or in front!) component

3) Increase size of name plaque

The above might help 'balance out' the look of the card. For me, the signature component completely overwhelms the other two major components.
