Hows the easiest way to fire my 430ex off camera and still retain TLL. The only cable i have come across is the canon OC E3 which seems overpriced and looks to short

You could use the ST-E2, or get the 580EX flash to use as a wireless master.

Yep. 580ex, ST-E2, or off shoe cord. I saw somewhere a fella that cut the off shoe cord with a few inches left of bothe the flash mount and the camera mount end, replace them with female CAT-5 ends. Now you can make an extension as long as you like (almost, I'm sure there is a limit with voltage drop and such). And if you want to keep the short coil for a flash bracket all you have to do is attach male CAT-5 ends to it.
Please if I am wrong on this someone jump in.

I also have a 430ex, last night i went to a local camera store and picked up an oc e3 it was costly ($80) and its way to short im takn it back today.
