However, the last paragraph in the left column says
"The models went throught the runway with the music beat, the lights and photography lenses of Sofocus...

Well.. my mum (the owner of the show and stuff) hired Sofocus to take the main pictures.. however, aparently Sofocus didnt do quite a good job (I was expecting it when they were actually nice Bouncing capabilities and this guys were shooting their flash directly at 1/1, I wish I had my 430EX by then..) so my mum told me to select my 5 favorite shots that I took, and she sent them to the newspaper :)

Congratulations, but it looks like you helped out Sofocus more than you did yourself. At least you helped out your mom. If Sofocus's "terrible" pictures would have been printed, it may have had a negative impact on your mom's future shows. Is your name mentioned anywhere in the article or the photos properly attributed to you?

Well I know i did a favour to her :) and im glad for that, but to answer your question, NOP.. not even my name.. and not only that, we had various shoots with the models for the publicity for a pageant we are doing this coming Jan20 called "Miss Dominican Ambar 2009" and Sofocus took those pictures, it was an all day shoot with 20+ models or so.. so after getting off School at 2pm i headed to the hotel where the shoot was being done, ate, and took few of the models to the beach to take them pictures for my Record.. afterwards they saw the pictures in my Camera, they wanted to buy them. I told them I needed to talk to my mother so she could authorize me the sales of them and she told me not to sale them because it was a Sofocus bussiness.. and I couldnt even upload them to Facebook as then those models wont buy Sofocus pictures..

But what pisses me off is that I TOOK THOSE PICTURES, I have all the rights to do whatever i want with those pictures. My mom and Dad thinks that when they send me to take pictures somewhere of some activities, they own the full copyright of the pictures.. and that pisses me.

You are treading dangerous waters there. If Sofocus was contracted to do the work, you could be breaching the contract on behalf of your mom. Did you get model releases for those models you took to the beach? If not, that's another reason why you shouldn't upload them to Facebook. The only thing you gained by shooting those models was practice and maybe their confidence. If I were you, I'd contact them again and see if they would be interested in another shoot... this time unrelated to anything that has to do with your mom's business.

Family can be the hardest people to work for, though it can also be the most rewarding. How old are you? If still living under their roof, you may not have much of a choice... but if living independent from them, you should really talk to them and work out some kind of copyright/usage understanding. (Actually even if you are still living with them, you need to come up with some usage understanding.)

You are completely Right mate.. im still 15. and I dont pretend to make a living out of photography as I like the most Aviation, however, this Hobby is making me want more and more stuff.. and beleive me, its pretty hard to get even 20 dollars from my parents lol..

But oh well.. I guess ill be better making shoots to someone else ;) Although im going to be making some kind of arrangements with my parents on that.
