Ive read that the hoya and kenko filters are the same with just different names so im referring to either the kenko of hoya pro1 models. Im looking for a new polorizer for my 5d and 17-40 and 24-105. Which of these two would be the best? Ive read that the b+w mrc's have coatings that are harder than glass, so does this mean it wont scratch? also is it really that much harder to clean the hoya/kenko vs the b+w? is there any real image quality/light transmission difference between the two? i can get a kenko pro1 for 60-70 dollars at hvstar while the b+w is 120 dollars. should i spring for the b+w or is the hoya/kenko just as good? thanks for your help. my exact two modlas are the b+w mrc polorizer and the kenko pro1 polorizer.

I had a Kenko CPL and sold it to go to the B+W Kaesman CPL. I find that the polarizing effect is slightly better with the B+W. Also, the brass mount of the B+W does not tend to start to unscrew if I happen to turn the CPL clockwise. The Kenko used to come loose on me when using it.
Both are excellent CPLs. I just tend to prefer the Kaesman one better.

A Kaesemann filter is a higher quality filter. If you compared two non-Kaesemann's, the result would be so similar to be indistinguishable between the MRC and the Hoya/Kenko Pro...transmission of 99.6% vs 99.7%

I have been very happy with the Kenko Pro1 CPL I have. I could not justify almost double the cost to go with the B+W.
