Hi All,
I am writing to ask for some tech support. I have an Ixsus 430 and have been using a 1GB CF Card. I'm on holiday at the moment, and took the card to a Kodak photo printing box to print a few shots, and the equipment was having some problems, and it couldn't read my card properly. Anyway, after using the card in this machine, and putting it back in the camera, about 90 shots just disappeared off the face of the earth.
Upon putting the card in a card reader (mind you the technology in Bali is not all that great), what appears to have happened is this: the DCIM Menu is all there, and there are the subsequent folders for each 100 shots. 101, 102, and 103 are fine, but in the 100CANON folder, things are weird. There is about 100 folders all named oror.or.oro or variations of that (all folders are empty), the first 12 shots I took are there (mixture of about 9jpg and 3avi) these are fine, and then 9 files all named orororor.or and appear to be 1.78GB each, bit strange seeing its only a 1GB card!
Something obviously has happened to this folder within the card, but I have no idea what. I guess I'm asking if there are any boffins out there who have seen this, and if there's any hope at all of retrieving the files. Its interesting to note, that the of the actual files I have salvaged from the camera, they number maybe 432MB, but the card currently says its 555MB full, which is probably consistant with the number of missing shots.
