I am rediscovering my love for photography, and have recently set up a small portrait studio in my home. My question though is this: does anyone know how to display images taken from a dslr in real time to your computer monitor? Is there even a way to do this? I would like for the model to see the image that was just taken as we shoot. I have a 20" flat screen that I can mount to one of the side walls, facing the portrait area, that can either be hooked up to my laptop, or directly to the camera if that's possible.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

The Canon software includes a capture utility that will put the photo up there via USB or the WiFi adapter. Or you could use the camera's video out to feed direct to a composite TV monitor.

I remember some photographer using a portable DVD player to live preview images...
My personal preference is shooting tethered as you can set LR to apply a preset already...

Many electronic stores now sell a 16' bus-powered USB cable you can use to extend your working reach while shooting.
The setup would be as follows...
Camera
usb cable that came with camera
16' bus-powered usb extension cable
computer
EOS Utility running in Remote shooting mode
ZoomBrowser (should run automatically unless you change some EOS Utility settings)
That's about it. The usb extension is around $23. It's fun! If you have Lightroom, you can use that to display the images too... info in their help files.

For more info: The best search phrase is "Tethered Shooting" ;)
As said: Eos Utility allows this, in combination with either DPP or LR (with a watched folder).

Tethered shooting. For free, Jon's aforementioned Canon software. For fee, the DSLR Remote Pro, which is what I use.
I just ordered a Tiffany Laptop Caddy from Sam's Club so I can place my 12" laptop on it and wheel it around my studio.
