It looks pretty cool. Other than a bit of the shine from the flash on the lip and eyeglasses, the flash really brings her out from the rest of the background. With the current depth of field that you used too and that flash combo, it alsmost looks surreal, like it's a fake backdrop. :)

Thx can i get rid of that flash out with photshop??

Also i used a 580EX flash on my 20D most the time it over exposes does any one know the best way to use this flash as a balanced fill flash?? most the time as i said i think it over exposes the person and does not blend in with the ambient light to well. as i said i have no idea what im doing so far

I think the flash was a little too harsh on this picture. It looks cool though.

I like it but the flash on her face is a little harsh. Love the background.

Im not advanced at all on photoshop, but (and I hope its ok with you,) I tried to take care of some of the flash shine and it took about 2 minutes to do so in PS7. :)

Thank for the feedback guys

OH and thx for the fix Jess.

Just on the flash, ireally like using a fill flash and with other camera have had some quite nice results, But i agree this 580EX is harsh, what do u think i should do? use flash comp.. or use a diffuser. im using it in E TLL (2) mode on P mostly any help would be appreciated

Get a softbox (lumiquest or similar) softbox for the 580. Or something similar. Also, in situations like this where you might just need a bit of fill, consider knocking the flash back 1/2 stop or so and seeing what you get.

There are some on this page, scroll down a bit. This was just doing a quick google search. There are some lumiquest ones on this page like charlesu said to look at.

You might want to try shooting in Av mode instead of P mode. Pick the aperture that will give you the depth of field you want. Then try shooting using different levels of flash compensation. P mode handles exposure differently depending on the level of ambient light. If the ambient light is high enough, it will assume you want to use the flash for fill. If the ambient light is below a certain level, it will assume you want to illuminate your subject using the flash. Watch your shutter speed. Depending on how dark it is outside, you may need to use a tripod.

I really like this pic especially the the lighting which echoes the skin tones but would like to see a tigher cropped version just to compare, and I think the lip highlight makes her look more sexy so I'd keep it.

Like this perhaps?
