Hi
I have a 10D with a Canon 28mm-200mm lens. I am now looking for a wide angle lens, but are not sure which one to go for was very interested in the new Canon 10-22 until I found out it won't fit the 10D doh!
Can anyone offer a suggestion. I would ideally like a lens with an f/s of 1.8 ish.
Thanks
Alzabal

Hi Alzabal,
if you really want to have a f/1.8 lens, your selection will be very limited... it's basically the Sigma AF 20mm f/1.8 EX.
Also not really wide on a 1.6 crop DSLR (32 mm equivalent)
If you are ready to accept f/2.8, then you'll have the choice of the Canon EF 14/2.8 L and the Canon EF 16-35/2.8 L ... but those are both well above $ 1000.
'Sensibly priced' good wide lenses would be the Tokina 17/3.5 and the Canon 17-40/4.0 L.
Best regards,
Andy

Wide angle and f1.8 ish hmmm ?
Sigma do a 20mm 1.8 for around £250.
Canon do a 24 mm 1.4 for around £950.
However you have 28mm on your zoom so you're not gaining a lot with the Canon.
Have you considered the 17-40L, it's only f4 but it makes more sense, IMO.

no zoom lens will have anything more wide open then f/2.8
tokina just relelased the 11-18 f/2.8 me thinks...

Mike,
He was not asking specifically for a zoom lens.
Best regards,

I second the Tokina f/3.5 AT-X Pro recommendation - it's one of the best lenses I've ever used. It's very sharp even wide-open and built like a tank.

The Sigma 24mm 1.8 is reasonably priced, as is the Sigma 20mm 1.8 and the Tokina 17mm 3.5 ha s it's fans. The popular choices for zooms are the Canon 17-40 f4 and the Tamron 17-35 2.8-4, they're not really fast though..
