I'm not a professional by far, but your images seem well balanced and pleasing to the eye. I can't tell you why, because, like I said, I'm not a professional, but I like the first in color and the second in BW.

Second in color pic, it has a lot of character.
The first one has too much water, maybe a tighter crop or get closer to your subject.
Black and white is very hard with animals, their coats are meant to blend in with the surroundings because animals see in black and white. This leads to potentially losing your subject in the background. I've found that upping the contrast and deepening the blacks helps separate your subjet from the background.
As i said, B&W animal shots can be tough but when you get them right, they are stunning.

Thank you for the comments..I just cropped the color dog, how does it look..hopefully not to tight..

Regards the Husky on the water: head down and tongue lolling out implies fatigue and/or over excitement. A head up, mouth closed expression looks more alert and confident.
The lab looks better in black and white, since its tonality is much different that the surroundings. In color, the lab's hue and the beach's hue are too similar.
