Ok so there is alot of guff here and there about the IPod photo. But I am not here to discuss the merits of the dohicky. I am here to tell you something iteresting.
This past weekend I left my IPod earbuds in the pocket of my bluejeans. And into the wash they went. They rode the full wash cycle and them went on to the dry cycle. When I pulled them out of the dryer I was totally irritated because those little buggers cost $30 a set. But I decided to, just for the fun of it, plug them in and see how they sounded. I didn't expect squat. But much to my surprise they work perfectly!
So let that be a lesson to you to not replace equipment until you are SURE it is a lost cause. I would have been out $30 and tax.

I'm sure when they said its good to give your camera an anual cleaning, I'm sure they did not mean what CDS just said. :D, but thats just as bad as the guy who opened the computer, not knowing anything and proceeded to cleaning the components with soap and water.

Of course not. Everyone knows that EOS cameras are dry clean only. Sheesh.

Im surprised u even considered chucking them. Since have very little parts, they are not as susceptible to rust, and since they had no electricty flow, water cant really damage the parts. Even cheap headphones should survive the washer. If ur device has moving parts though thats another story as it can get banged up. But otherwise it shouldnt harm it as long as u let it dry

They have a flexible diaphram, it's entirely reasonable they'd be rubbish if they went thru the wash, but because people sweat they need to have some built in water resistance.
Incidentally they' re ok but not great. Check out this site (http://www.headphonereviews.org) for reviews of alternate cans. Check out these things (http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.asp), they're pretty sweet.

One of my compact flash cards took a spin in the wash, not the dryer though. Banged it on a towel and let it dry, works fine. The trick with electronics is to not turn them on until they are completely dry. Left a radio out in the rain once years ago. Still have it, though I have not listened to it recently.
