Ok I just receive my Bonus check for the year. YAY

I am not sure if I should go for the 70-200mm f/4L and the Sigma 500 DG flash,

Or the 75-300 f/4-5.6 III USM and the Speedlite 550.

Not enough money to go around!

BTW it would be my first L glass.

Option 1 is much better than option 2, in my opinion. Much better lens, and the flash units are near equal.

Go for the 70 - 200. Latley then has been a "rash" of threads about complaints about the 75 - 300!!!

Thats what I figured. I have the 70-200 f/4L on order from Dell. I got it for 566.00 and no shipping. I will order the sigma flash from b & h. Now I have to find a good deal on one of those 500 dollar vortex vacuum cleaners they sell at sears. I forget the brand name but its been on the TV a lot lately, and it was the only way to convince my wife to let me get the photo gear.

DYSON thats the name. If anyone know where to get a good price let me know. Thanks

Dyson has a website, you can buy from them. Costco and Sears have had good prices. Also the price it the Dyson is WELL worth it. We had an Oreck and could not beleive what the Dyson picked up after using the Oreck.

My Dyson animal is worth every nickel of the $429 I paid for it at Costco. Pitched out a brand new Hoover for it.

Having owned both lenses, please get the 70-200. I HATED the 75-300, though it occasionaly gave me a few good results.

I bought the 70-200f4L and
Im a happy chapppy
There's my first shot(hand held) posted in the nature and animals section.
I had to change the RAW file to tiff get it small enough to post which lost a lot of the definition in the 100% crop, but you can stillsee its good
I looked at this shot in RAW at 100% and it brought as smile it was so sharp (better colour than the jpeg too)
Yup I'm happy with this lens

There are excellent visual comparisons and reviews, I don't have links on this pc but if you do a search they should be easy to find.

I have the same dyson animal vacuum, I hate it so much. It just wouldnt lost suction like my other vacuum, I am so not used to have so much suction!! It even suck up my undies.... :p

Yea, its a great vacuum!! I got it from Sharper Image. It was free shipping when I got it.

Oh, about your lens question I would get the 70 - 200 f/4 its a great lens. Pretty fast to do most kind of pictures. Very sharp. But for me it just doesnt have enought zoom. So I ended up getting the 100 - 400 IS USM. But I just noticed, its still doesnt have enough zoom. I guess I just need to walk closer from now on or wait for next years bonus.. ;) :p

Why arent you getting the 580ex? The price different isnt that much right?

Well Just checked Dells website. Says DHL has it and will deliver on FRIDAY. Just in time to play!

dphotomania - The sigma flash is $150 USD and the 580 is $389 USD. Unless i am missing something. I just need something to help with indoor candids.

I have the following site bookmarked...
http://www.slo-foto.net/reviews-56-page1.html
They compare the Sigma with the Canon 70-200 f4 and f2.8. I am thinking about the Sigma for a near-future purchase (after my bank account cools down from this weeks purchase!)

I have the Sigma 70-200 2.8, and for the guy buying the 70-200 F4, don't buy the canon, buy the sigma 70-200 2.8 you will be glad you did.

If the Dyson is so good - how come you've on your third already?

I have heard on more then a few occasions that people regretted buying the Sigma over the Canon.
You might want to search it up, a compromise is a compromise.
