Rookie looking for (first lens) advise!!!!

Hello Everyone,
I am new to digital photography - bought myself a Digital rebel with 18-55 mm lense:lol: . Since I am planning on a trip across the pond, I bought a Quantaray 55-200 mm digital series lense (lack of money made this desicion :cry: ) and a Quantaray 19-35 mmm (for wide-angle shots). My question is this: Do I really need the 19-35 lense? and or do you have alternative lenses that I can purchase for a reasonable amount??

if you have the 18-55 kitlens, why would you need the 19-35 ?


and a very nice and cheap lens is the canon 50mm 1.8 II (if you like primes)

well, you are right. I was looking for a super wide angle lense - to capture landscapes....

the Quantaray is 19mm wide open, the kitlens is 18mm ...

If you want to go wider, you should take a look at the canon EF-s 10-22

I would recommend returning both Quantaray's ... and purchasing one decent quality general purpose lens ... perhaps the Tamron 28-75/2.8 or the Canon 28-135.

As discussed, the kit lens has you covered at the wide end. You won't have quite the reach of the 55-200, but you'll have a higher quality lens.

Dump those Quataray lenses,. and don't go back to Ritz...

Thanks for the advise, I will return both lense (now that I realized that I don't need them). Thanks for the sugestion of the Canon 28-135 - I was hoping for a bit more reach, would you recomend th Canon - 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM EF Lens????
