I have already posted another thread in G&N with pictures from my gallery of this event last night (see http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=623108) but I will be posting a different set of images here of The Boogie Knights & The Spazmatics! The casino was packed, both in the Samala Room where the dancing was going on and on the gaming floor ... people were ready to be rid of 2008!
#1 Obligatory collage:

#2 The Spazmatics, who have played this event several years with The Boogie Knights, are the lesser of the two groups ... essentially an opener although they both played three sets and ended together. I screwed around with three 580EX's and an ST-E2 for the dancers and had Marna holding two 580EX's as we walked around the dancers ... unfortunately she couldn't hear me and kept looking at me rather than at the strobes and the people, but I think it is a great way to get the people!

#3 So, this was during their first set before the place became totally crowded wall-to-wall:

#4 The Boogie Knights are very popular in southern California ... I think they have a few interchangeable performers and sometimes a different number of members, but the crowd absolutely, positively loves them! I had my Etymotic earplugs in all night to protect my aged hearing so I have no idea of how they sounded ... except they were loud.

#5 The dancers worked in a set of four rotating around on the elevated platorms with strobes underneath or out on the ramps.

#6 Overall view from the back of the room.

#7 This guy was fun ... this is with a fisheye so you can guess how close to me he was ... lighted by my 580EX aseemblage!

#8 And here's Marna, holding two 580EX's over the two ladies at the front!
