Moved photo file and the size doesnt add up?

I just moved moved my 2008 pictures file from an external file to an internal drive.
i copy and pasted the file.

on the external drive, right click properties says the size is 86.4 GB with 8063 files and 271 folders

after the copy the internal drive says 86.4 gb with 8084 files and 271 folders.


what are the extra 21 files?

It is probably the dbthumbnail files. One is automatically created when ever you put a image in a folder. This file is what holds the thumbnail that is actually shown when you search through a folder. The computer does not actually look at each file and create a thumbnail every time you open the folder. It does it once and keeps its thumbnails in a "hidden" folder in the same folder as the images. Why only 21 when you have 271 folders I dont know.
