I had two film Elphs before buying my digital S400 almost a year and a half ago. I am an office manager for a Rolls-Royce repair shop and have lately been carrying all my daily impliments of destruction in a very large suede bag, including my camera in a little canvas case I picked up at TJ Maxx. A week or two ago I had a very unfortunate Diet Mt. Dew incident. Something either in my bag or in my office punctured a full can that I had in the bag. Of all the things in my bag I don't know why I never thought to check or remove my camera, except that the little case has sort of a stain resistant coating on it which I quess I thought was waterproof. And I suspect it did keep it out for a while, but once again, unfortunately, the interior is lined with a felt material which I'm guessing soaked up the water pretty well once it got through.
Needless to say, my little camera that thanks to the felt doesn't even show much wear to the metal finish, is probably finished. I'm looking at replacing it, and I toyed with repairing it--but as one of the mechanics who does computer work in our shop pointed out, it probably couldn't be any more broken. Taking it apart and cleaning the contacts, etc, probably couldn't make it any worse, and could be worth a try. I have removed the case already, does anyone have any thoughts and instructions on what to do and how to do it?
