This is my firest shot taken with my new 20D with Flash on 'P' -I have to say the Raw file is very impressive but I had to change to jpg which lost some detail. It took my quite a while to work out how to use this camera -just starting in didgitail :)

You are off to a good start but do yourself a favor and forget about the "P" mode and the auto "square box" mode. Learn "M" or at least the Av & the Tv modes You will be very happy once you understand those.

I understood those m odes fine when I had film cameras - digital is another thing - you need a phd in twiddling nobs and buttons

Wow that cat must have really wanted its picture taken. Sitting there so nicely. My cat always thinks that I want to play when I try and take her picture. Or she rolls all around the floor.
Here is a shot I tried to take of her.

I also took some of her moving whilst trying out the auto fucus, seemed to work well
The shot I posted, she was stting by the window so I put the camera on it's side to fill flash in on the side away from the window. She is so sweet she is only 1 year old and interested in everything - in this case the 'beep' from the autofocus locking on - I took 3 shots then she came up to the camera to investigate!
